How To Use Generative AI To Launch a New Website

Generative AI is all the rage – from streamlining work processes to creating content. With Google nuking AI content from search recently, marketers and content creators are skittish about how to use Generative AI on their website.

Here are some great ways to use Generative AI to help launch a new website without relying on potentially harmful AI content.

Pre-Launch:

  • Select a website platform – use ChatGPT or other Generative AI to quickly narrow down which platform works best for the websites needs. Be sure to ask very specific prompts related to the websites purpose and goals.
  • Pre-plan SEO –
    • Use Generative AI to run a keyword gap analysis. Provide AI a list of initial keywords and ask it to generate less commonly targeted terms. Ask it to provide a list of long-tail keywords. Finally, try a “related searches” or “related questions” prompt to see where competitors are missing opportunities.
    • Analyze Competitor Keywords by using a prompt that asks ChatGPT to analyze a keyword a competitor is targeting heavily and find gaps in their keyword coverage for that term.

Development:

  • Design – lacking design skills? Try Canva’s free online AI image generator using Magic Media, DALL-E, or Imagen. It isn’t always perfect but if time or budget is short, it’s a great way to get a site off the ground.
  • Coding Assistance – coding is still a work in progress for AI, and this might be for more advanced users, but AI can be helpful in creating code snippets or getting help with debugging. Try using ChatGPT to create Python script that can be used right out of the box or adjusted slightly to fit a specific need.

Post-Launch:

  • Website Review – ask ChatGPT to review a website for broken links, grammar, security issues, and more. While there are other tools that do the same thing, using a combination of tools can give better coverage.
  • Speed to Market – GenAI can help write paid search ads, get ideas for a content calendar, create engaging email subject lines, and more. Use GenAI where it works best – not to create generic articles and content – but to speed up the time it takes to do day-to-day marketing tasks.

One warning – GenAI is new and subject to hallucinations or incorrect information so be sure to fact check it which shouldn’t add a lot of time for most use cases. Generative AI is a great tool as part of launching a new website and hopefully this short list gives a starting point for your next website project.
